I got a 1954 Chevrolet
But I traded it in long ago
I traded the Chevy, don't you know
Traded it in for this old banjo
Well the '54 I must say
Son that was a running Chevrolet
Took me to Texas all the way
Brought me back up to Caroline
Well my honey she left but the Chevy was mine
I tried to go to Baltimore
Me and the Redbird my Lord
Burned out a bearing on that Blue Ridge climb
Well Peggy sing it on the old banjo
One more Chevy quit the road
One more Chevy quit the road
Sits out in the junkyard watching the sun go down
Well Peggy pass that jug around
One more Chevy going down
One more Chevy going down
Sits out in the junkyard next to a Pontiac
