Lyrics meaning

The song playfully imagines a world run by children, where war and sadness give way to sweets, laughter, and surprise. Its repeated call to “give children command” sounds like a cheerful demand for a different kind of leadership. The mood is energetic and hopeful, though the idea is presented as a fantasy rather than a practical plan.

Several images turn serious things into childlike ones: armies made of gummy sweets and tanks made of marzipan suggest that war could be “eaten up” instead of fought. “Tooth gaps” replace oppression, linking childhood innocence with a world less concerned with power. The phrase “laughed into the ground” is an exaggerated way to say that laughter could overwhelm gloom.

The song praises children as free, untamed, and unconcerned with rules or consequences. That praise is affectionate, but it also leaves room for irony: children’s refusal to calculate what they do can seem liberating, yet it might also be reckless. So the lyrics can be read both as a wish to bring play and openness into public life and as a humorous exaggeration of what would happen if children truly took charge.
