This next song is uh, the song that I wrote about America
It's called uh, Heart Of The Wound
ย
There was a sunset shining on the sea
But everyone was locked inside, glued to their TV
'Cause once you've seen a sunset, you have seen them all
And they're never as nice as the ones they sell down at the mall
The best laid plans are in the heartland but
It is the heart of the wound
'Cause we will learn to accept that we will never understand
Heart of the wound
ย
Someone shooting teenage boys in the light of day
Hearing America couple miles away, they say
"Violence is cyclical, things will be okay"
More than just a pendulum on swinging their way, oh
The best laid plans are in the heartland but
It is the heart of the wound
'Cause we will learn to accept that we will never understand
Heart of the wound
There's blood on the soul, never reaching the hand
But as angry men, we've got a right to demand
Love breathing life to a wounded land
Love that will try and leave us wounded again
ย
So come see the sunset sinking in the trees
And come feel the shadow falling over me
Come feel the anger from sea to shining sea
Come see this land that never really was free
The best laid plans are in the heartland but
It is the heart of the wound
'Cause we will learn to accept what we will never understand
Heart of the wound
Heart of, heart of
Heart of, oh heart of
