Lyrics
Mornin' number 32, wakin' up without you
Momma's on the telephone
She says, she's got a plan
She knows a nice young man
Honey, if I come back home
Everybody knows
Everybody knows
Everybody knows, what to do about my misery
Everybody, but me
Well, all the girls at work, say, (Just forget the jerk)
I feel better now
Even my preacher cares, said, all I need is prayer
And everything, will just work out
Everybody knows
Everybody knows
Everybody knows, what to do about my misery
Yeah, everybody but me
Wel,l I don't want a shrink
Don't even want a drink
Give me some chocoloate, and a magazine
I'll learn to live without ya
Don't wanna talk about ya
But I can't even walk down the street
Everybody knows
Everybody knows
Everybody knows, what to do about my misery
Yeah, everybody but me
Everybody knows
Everybody knows
Everybody knows, what to do about my misery
Yeah, everybody but me
Everybody knows, yeah!
Thank you very much. Thank you
Thank you. This song was co-written by Matresa Berg, one of my
I think she reads my mind, and then puts pen to paper sometimes
She's an amazing writer
To finally just come out, and call him a jerk in a song
I mean, we've been skirting the issue for years now
Anyway, just move on
Back to that cynical thing, aren't we? Well, this next song
Is actually the song where the woman is the jerk
I figure after six years, I put one in there
And she's the one who's made a mistake this time
This song is one of the last songs I found for this new album
I heard it a long time ago, and in Nashville, songs get put on hold
And that means, that if somebody hears it first
You've got to wait to see if they're going to record it or not
And this happened to be on hold by the songwriter
One of the writers, Kim Ritchie
She was going to put it on her own album
And luckily, Kim is a friend of mine. And I, basically badgered her
Every time I saw her, until she gave it to me
And I'm really, really glad she did
It became the first single off this album
And I think it's become one of my favorite songs of all time
Just because it's so much fun to sing
It's called, "Believe Me Baby, I Lied"
