I don't wanna write a sad song about you
I don't wanna sing the words, that'll cut me up again
Cus I'm not tryna be a pessimist
If anything I'm scared of losing this
Cus I don't wanna write a sad song about you
You know that I find it hard to put words to my feelings
Something about telling you that I'm broken, ain't easy
Cus I can get stuck in the past and the wounds that need healing
But for now, let me tell you in the only way I know
I don't wanna write a sad song about you
I don't wanna sing the words, that'll cut me up again
Cus I'm not tryna be a pessimist
If anything I'm scared of losing this
Cus I don't wanna write a sad song about you
I don't write songs about them in the hope that they'll hear me, no
Its not about now
But back then it hurt and I guess that I'm still grieving oh
I know that it sucks to hear stories of love without you in it
But for now let me tell you ours in the only way I know
I don't wanna write a sad song about you
I don't wanna sing the words, that'll cut me up again
Cus I'm not tryna be a pessimist
If anything I'm scared of losing this
I don't wanna write a sad song about you
No I never want to
Write a sad song bout you
Just give me time to go get through
All the shit that broke my heart before
Then I'll start again
With your name in my pen
I don't wanna write a sad song about you
I don't wanna sing the words, that'll cut me up again
Cus I'm not tryna be a pessimist
If anything I'm scared of losing this
I don't wanna write a sad song about you
