Tiger

The singer describes an intense, playful crush. Seeing the person makes him excited and eager to be near them; his feelings build from admiration into exaggerated, almost comic impatience. The repeated “like a tiger” refrain presents this excitement as energetic and hard to control, rather than as a quiet, serious declaration of love.

The lyrics use animal comparisons to make the singer’s emotions vivid: his heart jumps like a kangaroo, he feels strong like a bear, and he runs toward the person like an antelope. Saying he is “on the prowl” borrows the image of a tiger hunting, suggesting that he is actively pursuing a romantic meeting. “I can’t be tamed” means he feels too excited to restrain himself. The odd image of floating “like an onion in a bowl of stew” adds silliness rather than a clear emotional message.

The song’s tone is affectionate but also boastful and cartoonish. “You’re my mate” may mean a romantic partner, while the tiger imagery makes the singer sound possessive or eager; it need not be read as a literal threat. His warning that he might get mad if kept waiting could be playful exaggeration, though it also hints at impatience. Overall, the lyrics mix genuine attraction with humorous overstatement.
