Yo, I been, I been
I been reminiscin' 'bout the album that I dropped
And the positivity within the comments that I got
I mean, the criticism is nothin' short
Of what a growin' artist should be cravin' or wishin' for
But I'm always staying so critical myself
I'm bein' cynical, and well
I think I'm gonna make Proof of Concept
Look like a high school project, the worst work to date
It's gonna be the album that you'll love to hate
I can't wait, so much on my plate
I gotta spit it, I'm committed
So, I figured if I sped it up a little bit
Maybe I could go and capture something like attention
Of somebody who would recognize the talent and the passion I embody
The people would enjoy my newest hobby just a little
'Cause I gotta be the next hot commodity
I insert myself into the hip hop game eloquently
I can't stop the music like Rihanna
But I sure can be so dramatic, evidently
My twenty-twenty's comin' true
Exactly as the prophecy predicted
The prophecy is nothin' more than my intuition
You know who I am, it's J E double T
L E double N O N
I'm sure it's no surprise to you then, the way that I be flowin'
I look to the sky, that's the way that I be goin'
But, once again, who am I, Sim Simma
I had the keys to the Bimmer
Now I'm a guy with the keys to my future
What am I doin' here
A tiny quiet voice in the back of my head said
I really couldn't do it, but I did it
I ain't knock 'em out the box, Rick, I knocked 'em dead
I'm so clever, I said what I said
Doja Cat, no regrets, We're the Millers, I'm the illest and wordy
I'm intermixing syllables, I'll be a little flirty
Takin' out the competition
Like I do the garbage out the kitchen
I'm bitchin' like Eleven
Ain't nobody stepping to me like the brand of luggage
Now I bubble like jacuzzi
My eyes are feelin' droopy as I'm
Headin' to the top of the roof like Snoopy
I want it but I know I gotta exercise patients like rehabilitation
I'm a spittin' image of my father, it's ironic
'Cause my studio is all up in my basement
Exactly as his was when I was a kid
Now I'm grown, trynna make it on my own
And build a reputation all up in the music biz
Back to the topic, it was just an experiment
A mere introduction, a budget project
Proof of Concept was somethin'
That I had envisioned years ago
I put it on the backburner
Lingerin' and stewin', I was brewin' up a miracle
My ego needed work and so I focused on the notion
That myself had been depleted
I was wrestlin' devotion to my friends and academics
Back in 2019, right before the damn pandemic
I demanded from myself I'd get help
And soon enough, the medication landed in my hand
Goddamn, what a difference
Before, I was so disoriented, it was sorta self-inflicted
But, you see, I've risen past it
Now my past experiences servin' as an atlas
I'm always lookin' back, I kept catastrophe in check
On track like a train and I hope I don't wreck
Never for a second did I ever question
If I was gonna make it
Okay, that' not true, I think about it all the time
But I do know in my mind
There's somethin' I feel when I rhyme
Somethin' so real and raw that I never really
Felt with any other hobby of mine
I bet this means I best keep goin'
Despite the setbacks, serene devotion
For hip hop, I'll bleed an ocean
You know I'm sorta like Magellan and the story that I'm tellin'
See, it's true, it's not a fable
And although I am nothin' but an ordinary fella
Underrated, I'ma make it, bringin' talent to a label
Yes, I'm certainly able
Aight, that's all for now
I got things in the works
The next album is underway
I upgraded the studio, it's now professionally acoustically treated
I got a new microphone, shoutout to Neumann
Their mics have been a staple of the recording industry for decades, man
Alright, I'm out
Back to work
