Hawg For You

The speaker presents himself as intensely eager to win or enjoy his beloved’s attention. The repeated promise to stay near her door gives the song a playful, persistent energy, while the boastful offers later on suggest that he wants to impress her too. The mood is comic and flirtatious rather than tender or reflective.

“Hawg” is a playful spelling of “hog,” and “rootin’” suggests a pig rooting around with its snout. By applying these animal images to himself, the speaker makes his desire sound messy, shameless, and exaggerated. “Rockin’ pneumonia” and “Asiatic flu” are comic-sounding claims of illness; they may emphasize how overwhelmed he feels, rather than describe a serious sickness. “Sock it to you” is an energetic phrase that can mean giving someone something forcefully or enthusiastically, and here it adds to the song’s suggestive tone.

The lyrics leave the exact meaning of “root” open: it can evoke the pig image, but in this repeated romantic context it may also carry a sexual suggestion. The speaker’s extravagant promise to buy an airplane and fly his beloved around the world sounds like comic bragging, not necessarily a realistic plan. Overall, the song turns desire into a deliberately silly performance, though its persistence could sound charming or pushy depending on how a listener hears it.
