I guess it's really what you wanted
This was you being honest
I gave you the world and this is how you responded
So much for follow up on everything you promised
Isn't it ironic
Our favorite drink together was a mix of tonic
But now the thought of that makes me simply noxious
I sip on Coke and Mentos 'cause the chemicals are strongest
I've been thinking 'bout the ways you did me wrong
Reflecting on the fact that you strung me along
But I still want you back, 'cause with you is where I belong
I saw you in a dream, so I had to write this song
I think I saw you in a dream last night
Felt right and it always used to be
You and me, skin tight, no light
But that was then and now you and I are nothing
But my heart still wants to hold onto something
That's why the memories of us together flood in
That's why I'm running
You were sleeping in my bed
And now you're in my head, in a dream
You gave flight to my internal butterflies
Now I can barely look straight into your eyes
You used to scooch a little closer to my side
Now every time I hear your name, a part of me dies
And now I'm counting sheep
Reminiscing of the times of you and me
Missing you and us and what used to be
I guess that's why subconsciously
You're always in my dreams
And I don't know how to sleep
A single night without seeing you in my dreams
And I wake up in a panic 'cause you're not next to me
And that's where you used to be
You were sleeping in my bed
And now you're in my head, in a dream
Last night felt right and how it used to be
You and me, skin tight, no light
But that was then and now you and I are nothing
But my heart still wants to hold onto something
That's why the memories of us together flood in
That's why I'm running
You were sleeping in my bed
And now you're in my head, in a dream
