Fast As A Shark

The lyrics create a scene of danger at midnight. The speaker warns someone that a killer is approaching, turning an ordinary night in foggy streets into a tense chase. Repeated warnings build fear, while the repeated chorus makes the attacker seem unstoppable. The mood is urgent and threatening rather than reflective.

The shark is a metaphor for a fast, ruthless attacker: it emerges from darkness and strikes before its target can react. “Breathing down your neck” is an idiom meaning someone is very close behind, creating pressure or fear. The “one way track” suggests a path with no escape or return, so the threat feels fatal. These images make the danger vivid without explaining who the killer is.

The lyrics can be understood as a straightforward horror-style warning, but they leave the scene open: the attacker could be a literal killer, or the shark-like figure could represent danger more generally. The repeated commands to “beware” and “watch out” sound like advice, yet the claim that the target is “not coming back” suggests that caution may not be enough. The song’s force comes less from a detailed story than from its speed, repetition, and sense of sudden attack.
