Lyrics
We were number one, it seems like yesterday
Billboards said these boys are on their way
The very first song we sang sold a million strong
Now we can't figure out what the hell went wrong
We lost our girls when the song hit ten
Sit around broke remembering when
Life was easy, so much fun
It's a long way down from number one
We sang Michael rode the boat across the land
When nobody ever heard of a rock n' roll band
Oh I love the girls and just adored their screams
And our heads were filled with dollar signs and dreams
But we never made it back again
Group has come to the usual end
Life was easy, so much fun
It's a long way down from number one
So I sent myself to school to study long
And them cotton fields have never seemed so far
I cut my hair and I got myself some power
Now I work full days just racking up billable hours
Got a photograph from a magazine
Bull-wrecker hangin' from my tambourine
Life was easy, so much fun
It's a long way down, it's a long way down, from number one
