Lyrics
Well she wanted to go on the stage
No one could stop her she felt like she was in a cage
Her mind was made up, her heart was set on it
but she would'nt listen
So her father worked every night
her mother was crying when the train pulled out of sight
when the letter arived thay could hardly wait cause it read...
(DAUGHTER)
Mother & Father I've met a young man
who thinks he can help me with all of my plans
he going to give me a start it's a very small part as a plainum blonde
So they waited & waited for weeks
when no word arived the tears ran down her cheek
And when it finaly came they felt somehow to blame cause it read...
(DAUGHTER)
Mother & Father I'm doing allright
i'm going away for a while so don't write it's not for the money you know it's a respectable show called the platinum blonde
Can you read between the lines
Can you read between the lines
Can you read between the lines
Can you read between the lines
So he packed his bag and got on a train
told his wife he was of to see his brother in Main
When he got into town he looked for the show call the platinum blonde
Through the red lights & smoke on the stage
he watched daughter preforme & in Shame &
Rage he turned his head away he could almost hear say...
(DAUGHTER)
Father Oh Father you've got it all wrong
i like it right hear this is where i belong
it might not be Shakespear but i'm happyier hear as a platinum blonde
Can you read between the lines
Can you read between the lines
Can you read between the lines
Can you read between the lines
So he waited behind the stage door
when his daughter came out the first thing she saw
Was the gun in his, a flash of light,
and then nothing more
His called up on the phone
she sounded so happy & he felt all alone
what that you say we got a letter today
and it read...
(DAUGHTER)
Mother & Father I'm on my way home
iv'e missed you so much and been so alone
i always knew you where right this is
my very last night as a platinum blond
Can you read between the lines
Can you read between the lines
Can you read between the lines
Can you read between the lines
(repeat until end)
