This a song written by old friend of mine, Townes Van Zandit
Townes couldn't be here this evening
But Townes just leave me and Susan back, I guess it's 1972
And he woke up one morning and coming for, for coffee
And he picked up a guitar
And lay this piece of paper on his leg and sing a song
I said, "Man, what a great song where does it come from?"
He said, "I wrote it last night in my sleep"
Said, "I just rolled over and wrote it down
And turned over and went back to sleep"
Then he got up and played it
Mh mh-mh suspicions confirmed
Ah, in case one of you are wondering
There is reference in here to Loop and Leo
Loop and Leo were Townes pair keets, called 'em, "Road keets"
Ah, they carried him in the inside pocket of his sport jacket
When he came walking down them
What do you call that at the airport? (Concourse)
Concourse, yeah
I saw him one day that he came walking out of this con-, it's gone
He had them damn pair keets in there, yah
If I needed you
