I Do

The speaker describes growing exhausted by a relationship in which her feelings and choices are challenged. At first, she seems caught in sadness, frustration, and uncertainty, spending nights thinking about what she has done. Gradually, she moves toward questioning the other person and insisting that she will no longer be pushed around. The repeated “I do” emphasizes that her feelings are real, even when the other person cannot hear or recognize them.

The phrases “ignored,” “denied,” “erased,” and “brushed aside” build a picture of someone feeling that her presence and perspective are being dismissed. “Pushed around” can mean being physically moved, but here it most likely means being controlled or treated unfairly.

The lyrics leave some details open. We do not know exactly what the speaker has done, what answer the other person wants, or whether the relationship is ending. “I’m done with you” might describe a final break, but the speaker’s repeated insistence that she feels something also suggests she is still emotionally affected. The song can therefore be heard both as an expression of hurt and as a growing act of self-assertion.
