Music

The lyrics celebrate the pleasure of dancing and listening to music. The speaker asks the DJ to play a record so they can dance with someone they love, and says that once the music begins, they do not want it to end. The mood is energetic and joyful, focused on living in the moment rather than watching time pass or thinking about the past.

Music is described as bringing people together and crossing social divisions: it can “mix the bourgeoisie and the rebel.” “Bourgeoisie” refers to wealthy or socially privileged people, while “rebel” suggests someone who resists the usual rules. The contrast implies that people with different backgrounds or attitudes can share the same experience on a dance floor. The image of music as “riding on the wind” suggests a feeling of movement and freedom, while “it never goes away” hints at its lasting influence.

The song’s repeated questions about boogie-woogie and acid rock may be playful invitations to join in, rather than a serious test of musical taste. “Drive me crazy” most likely means that the music excites or overwhelms the speaker with pleasure, not that it causes actual distress. Overall, the lyrics present music as both personal enjoyment and a force for connection, though the focus is on celebration rather than explaining exactly how that unity happens.
