Hear the tale
Of the old man hiding
In disguise, dressed up as a beggar
He passed by the forest folk
That lived there at that time
No one knows
His own real nature
He belongs to the bright, celestial home
And in search for food he roames around
Look at the sky and see the Moon
Feel the magic through the gloom
And your eyes will clearly see
The bright glowing silver shape
Of the big jade rabbit who lives there
A sign carved in stone for all to see
A reminder for eternity
Of the sweetest sacrifice
The tale behind this tune
Fruit and meat
The fox lights the flames just
To warm him
They offer a shelter and a meal
Then gather around him to lend a hand
I can collect only some grass
It's not enough to give you the strengh
And to survive
So the rabbit offers himself in sacrifice
Look at the sky and see the Moon
Feel the magic through the gloom
And your eyes will clearly see
The bright and glowing silver shape
Of the big jade rabbit who lives there
A sign carved in stone for all to see
A reminder for eternity
Of the sweetest sacrifice
The tale behind this tune
Can you hear his ancient ode?
Do you see the gift bestowed?
By the Moon Divinity
To the kindest living being?
Look at the sky and see the Moon...
Sora mi aghe tsuki o
Look at the sky and see the Moon
Feel the magic through the gloom
And your eyes will clearly see
The bright and glowing silver shape
Of the big jade rabbit who lives there
A sign carved in stone for all to see
A reminder for eternity
Of the sweetest sacrifice
The tale behind this tune
The rabbit on the Moon
