Young boy named Kevin
He was 20 years old and he wanna make heaven
Easy way out. His belief wouldn't let him
One sec. Lemme tell you bout the life of Kevin
Let's go
Dad passed away so he was living at his mum's house
Smile on his face, all his life, and he was all about it
Good Christian kid from the start. Yeah, you couldn't doubt it
Genius in the school. He was there and he was way above it
Top of the class all the time. Could never brag about it
Wake up every morning. Pray to God. Could never do without it
Young boy in the hood. Living a little lavish
Little did he know that the life was soon to vanish
Fast forward later. His mum just passed away
Kevin still in shock now. He don't know what to say
How's he gonna make it? How's he gonna find his way
Living life without his mum is harder every single day
He's getting tired of his life and it's stressful
Every situation and it really was painful
Don't know what to do. He's going mad in his temple
Another black kid losing all his potential
That's what they said
He was praying to the Lord just to take him
Couldn't take his life, cuz he knows that will cost him
Didn't wanna live when his Mama was taken
Couldn't pay the bills. Had to sleep in the station
Only one he had was Dayla
But everyday he prayed he wanna see the creator
If you lose your Mama, yeah, it really does break you
He wanna see his mum. Don't wanna live to be greater
Take me up so I can leave this life alone
I wanna be with you, I'm ready to let go
I've been a good good kid
I stayed away from sin
I had my life to live
But I can't take no more
So take up to heaven
Take up to heaven
Take me to the pearly gates. I wanna celebrate
Take up to heaven
Take up to heaven
Take me to the pearly gates. I wanna celebrate
Have you tried to make a living, living in the hood
Have you ever been the one to see the bad in all the good
Have you ever tried to speak your mind and no one understood
Have you ever been an orphan fighting everyday for food
Have you ever lost your mum and your dad
Have you ever been an orphan. Yeah, the feeling is sad
Have you ever woken up and then you losing your mind
Have you ever had to spend your whole life on the grind
Well I was living in the hood
I had to be the one to see the bad in all the good
I tried to speak my mind and no one ever understood
Yeah, I was the orphan fighting everyday for food
Then I lost my mum and my dad
I was living as an orphan, yeah, the feeling was sad
I wake up everyday and then I'm losing my mind
Had to spend my whole life. I was always on the grind
Take me up so I can leave this life alone
I wanna be with you, I'm ready to let go
I've been a good good kid
I stayed away from sin
I had my life to live
But I can't take no more
So take up to heaven
