I hooked up with a guy named Clark Kent, and we went and recorded "I Cram to Understand U"
That was just a poem in a rhyme book that I had, actually
And we rocked that thing, Brooklyn basement
And, and that was my little cassette tape that I would walk around with and play for everybody
I remember seeing D-Nice when he was DJing for KRS-One backstage and I let him hear it
And it was just like, "Just like a test, just, just like a test

And he was like, "Yo, this is dope"
And then KRS-One came by and was like "What you listening to"
When he grabbed the headset and he was like, "Yo, this is wack," hahahaha
And I looked at D-Nice and I was like, "What does wack mean?"

And so he's always been a big supporter of mine

First, Sparkle, then I was Red, then I changed my name to Lyte
