Metal Health

The song presents a loud, rebellious persona who feels misunderstood by authority figures and wants to make an impact. At first, the speaker describes being called troublesome or “insane,” then turns those judgments into a badge of identity. The mood shifts from frustration to exuberant confidence, inviting listeners to join in the noise and excitement.

Images such as an “axe grinder” and “six-string razor” make the speaker sound forceful and dangerous, using exaggerated language to express the sharp, aggressive energy of rock music. “Bang your head” is both a physical image and a call to move along with the music. “Join the pack” suggests becoming part of a group of fans, while “there’s no way back” playfully makes joining seem like an all-in commitment.

“Metal health” is a pun on mental health. The lyrics present heavy music as something that can both “drive you mad” and “cure” madness, so the contradiction seems deliberate rather than a literal claim about treatment. It may suggest that intense music offers release, solidarity, or a way to embrace being an outsider. The song keeps that meaning light and theatrical: its wild phrases, including the straightjacket image, heighten the rebellious performance without settling on one serious explanation.
