We're In This Together

The song moves from a world where people seem unaware of others’ struggles to a more hopeful sense of connection. The speaker says their eyes are open and their love is strong, then repeats that “we’re in this together.” The repeated promise gives the song a steady, reassuring emotional tone.

“Eyes were closed” suggests that people have failed to notice what is happening around them; open eyes imply awareness and care. “Washed-up failures” is a harsh description of people who may have been dismissed as useless or defeated. By contrast, the speaker’s long line and rolling soul suggest a continuing journey, linked to a wider shared feeling. The image of the ocean also evokes openness and something vast.

The song’s message can be read as a promise of loyalty between two people, but its references to people in need, the sun, and the seas make the togetherness seem broader than a private relationship. “Forever” sounds like a sincere commitment, though it may also be an expression of hope rather than a literal guarantee. The lyrics leave the exact meaning of “together” open, while emphasizing mutual care and belonging.
