Lyrics meaning

The speaker is addressing a lover who is leaving. At first, he sounds confident that the other person will miss him and still loves him, while also admitting that he failed to notice how bad things had become. As the song continues, his confidence gives way to clearer grief: he already misses the person and longs for their affection. He keeps asking whether the relationship must really end and whether they can find a solution.

The “violins” suggest the romance and sweetness of their earlier kisses; saying there are no more violins hints that this feeling has faded. “Routine has taken its place” means that familiar habits have replaced excitement, until the relationship became unbearable. The repeated questions about finding a solution show the speaker’s wish to rescue the relationship, even as he recognizes that the chance may be small.

There is a tension between hope and acceptance. The speaker insists that the other person still loves him, but this may be his belief or wish rather than something the lyrics confirm. Likewise, “I love only you” expresses strong devotion, yet it does not prove that love alone can repair their problems. The song can therefore be heard both as a heartfelt plea and as an example of someone struggling to accept that a relationship may be over.
