Lyrics
I have to go father go to Mรกdรฉfalva
A meeting was announced by shiny noble lords
Many valiant lads are gathering there as well
By the snowy mountains thus I have to say farewell
My dear tender son you don't have to go there
The meeting was announced by high austrian lords
We are doomed before them they always brought evil
They always brought misery to poor Szรฉkely people
They broke the hearts of many mothers who hardly
Brought up the handsome lads they took to join the army
Don't go there my dear son they always brought evil
They always brought misery to poor Szรฉkely people
Don't worry dear father yet I have to depart
I mustn't be afraid but I must have a brave heart
If the shiny lords could frighten me away
Yellow-haired maidens disdained me all the way
So Sรกndor Dakรณ rode to Mรกdรฉfalva
Rode on a grey horse with a crimson sabretache
Many valiant lads stood up there surrounded
And shed their blood one and all by the snowy mountains
Oh good Sรกndor Dakรณ why you had to go there
For your father's despair for your mother's despair
For the doom of yourself
Now eagles are lurking to feast on your flesh
And over there rises a river of mourning
Indeed it is rising towards Mรกdรฉfalva
Where are you good bards maybe you are asleep
As you missed to chant of the great sorrow of Fel-Csรญk
The great sorrow of Fel-Csรญk the mourning of Hรกromszรฉk
We all will remember blackguard Sivkovics' raid
As he built a heap of prime of youth slaughtered
Threw some into fire and others into water
One mourns a father one mourns a mother
One lost a sweetheart and a bairn the other
Their plenty of tears surge as a great flood
Alas all the rivers are flooding but with blood
As Olt runs into grey Danube with its crimson water
All who could flee from the land are cursed to ever wander
My part is to go away into grey exile
If only I could see my home just once in a while
