Twist And Shout

The lyrics are a lively invitation to dance and enjoy the moment. The speaker admires someone’s appearance and dancing, and the repeated calls to “twist and shout” create an excited, playful mood. As the song continues, the invitation becomes more personal: the speaker asks the dancer to come closer and show that they belong together.

“Shake it up” and “twist” refer to energetic dance moves, but their repetition also gives the words a feeling of movement and enthusiasm. “You got me goin’” is an informal way to say that someone has made the speaker excited or energized. The phrase “let me know that you’re mine” suggests a wish for closeness or reassurance, not just a desire to keep dancing.

The song keeps its meaning simple and open. It can be heard as a flirtatious dance-floor exchange, with the speaker celebrating attraction and physical energy. The claim that the other person is “mine” may sound affectionate, playful, or somewhat possessive, depending on how a listener hears it. The lyrics do not explain the relationship; their main focus is the immediate excitement of dancing together.
