I joined a tennis club, and I don't even like sports
Now the only games I play are out on the court
Trading thoughts of you for white sneakers and shorts
But there's something so familiar 'bout the back and forth
We would just fall apart when I thought that we had it
Before I crossed the line, you were causing a racket
Playing on the same team, why you want the advantage?
(Maybe I'm being dramatic)
Now I'm sitting on a bench 'cause I'm so tired of running
No matter what I do, I'm always chasing something
I really hate the pะตssimist that I'm becoming
But no matter what I do, it's like lovะต means nothing

I hate this tennis club, but I'm here every night
Working so hard at this thing I don't like
I feel so out of place under fluorescent lights
Around all these happy people who don't got you on their mind, oh
We would just fall apart when I thought that we had it
Before I crossed the line, you were causing a racket
Playing on the same team, why you want the advantage?
And, yeah, I'm being dramatic
Now I'm sitting on a bench 'cause I'm so tired of running
No matter what I do, I'm always chasing something
I really hate the pessimist that I'm becoming
But no matter what I do, it's like love means nothing
ย
I joined a tennis club to get my mind off of you
That's what the self-help books all told me to do
Wanted to dye my hair blue 'cause it's your least favourite colour
Instead, I didn't leave my parents' house for the rest of the summer

Now I'm sitting on a bench 'cause I'm so tired of running
No matter what I do, I'm always chasing something
I really hate the pessimist that I'm becoming
But no matter what I do, it's like love means nothing
