Forever Young

The lyrics read as a series of warm wishes for someone’s life. The speaker hopes this person will be kind, truthful, brave, and strong, while also finding joy and purpose. The repeated wish to “stay forever young” gives the song a tender, hopeful feeling. It may mean more than remaining physically young: it suggests keeping energy, openness, and a lively spirit as life changes.

Several images express these hopes. A “ladder to the stars” suggests aiming high and pursuing ambitious dreams; climbing every rung implies making progress step by step. A “strong foundation” offers an image of inner stability, helping someone withstand the “winds of changes”—an expression for difficult or changing circumstances. The wishes for busy hands and swift feet suggest being active and ready to take part in life.

Although the words mention God, the song can also be understood as a blessing in a broad, everyday sense: one person sincerely wishing another well. “Forever young” remains gently ambiguous. It might refer to preserving youthful qualities, or simply to living with courage, kindness, and joy at every age. The lyrics do not promise that life will be easy; instead, they wish the person strength and support through whatever comes.
