(The record), the record of the year, hip pop, hip pop, hip pop, hip pop (yo, it's big Rex in the building)
(The record), the record of the year, hip pop, hip pop, hip pop, hip pop
Record of the year, record of the year, record of the year (yeah, this is dedicated to everybody trying to make a hit record)
Record of the year, the record of the year, record of the year (it's easy, easy, all you need to do is listen up)
Listen up close, kids, wanna do hip pop
Here's a few pointers to make you that hit song
Rule one, get you a stripped down beat
Get the bass running like Chris Brown's feet
Okay now, make your rhymes simple as you can
You know, sorta like the gingerbread man
Trust me, kids, you want them top sellers?
Then write rhymes that'll make Dr. Seuss jealous
Start rapping with a Heineken beer
With the other hand, throw your gang sign in the air
Follow these rules, all you kids out there
And you too can have yourself the record of the year
(The record), the record of the year, hip pop, hip pop, hip pop, hip pop
(The record), the record of the year, hip pop, hip pop, hip pop, hip pop
Record of the year, record of the year
Record of the year, record of the year
The record of the year, record of the year
Record of the year, yeah, yeah, yeah
Next rule, don't ever put it past you
If you're in a group, get a girl like Phos crew
Let her sing the hooks, let her spit bars too
Once you've done that, all you need is a dance move
Snap your fingers, snap your toes too
Do the motorbike, tell 'em what they gon' do
Do the running man if you're feeling old school
Once you've done that, slow down your vocals
Now you don't need guests on your damn track
Tell T-Pain and Akon to fall back, get a girl with a fat derriere
Now you too can have yourself the record of the year
Record of the year, record of the year
Record of the year, record of the year
The record of the year, record of the year
Record of the year, yeah, yeah, yeah
Ayo, quit your job, tell your boss where it's at
Get a hip hop tee and a baseball cap
Earn yourself a verse, go spit it in my ear
I'ma make that that the record of the year
I got a record deal for you, man, the record of the year
Get groupies on tour, man, the record of the year
Make it number one in your country, man, the record of the year
And I'ma make that that the record of the year
Yo, got no rhythm, skipping beats like jump rope
It's all good, just nod your head if you're unco
Horse man, sipping vodka in a punch bowl
Don't forget the drumroll
Yo, get that hit song, girls'll come all day
I mean, even Jay-Z got Beyoncé
Don't matter if y'all look like Blanka
Record of the year get your stats up, I'm
(The record), the record of the year, hip pop, hip pop, hip pop, hip pop
(The record), the record of the year, hip pop, hip pop, hip pop, hip pop
Record of the year, record of the year
Record of the year, record of the year
The record of the year, record of the year
Record of the year, yeah, yeah, yeah
