I used to hate t he way it tasted
Reminded me of high school basements
And drinking games back in Charleston
I had too many when you moved back to Boston
I'd have an Ultra at a ball game
I'd sip Corona on a boat day
But I was a little more Cabernet than IPA
I used to be vodka soda
Jack and cola
Umbrella drink with rum
I used to say "surprise me"
Now you won't find me
With tequila in my cup
Cause I can't trust who I become
When a drop of liquor hits my tongue
The way I did back when you were here
So now I stick with beer
Oh I stick with beer
I know it's cheap I know it's easy
But I got picky, I got greedy
Now I'm just tryna be responsible
'Cause losing you has been impossible
And I hate when it's hoppy
But it's the only thing that's got me
Somewhat holding on
So I said goodbye to Perignon
I used to be vodka soda
Jack and cola
Umbrella drink with rum
I used to say "surprise me"
Now you won't find me
With tequila in my cup
Cause I can't trust who I become
When a drop of liquor hits my tongue
The way I did back when you were here
So now I stick with beer
Oh I stick with beer
I tried drinking wine but it reminds me of the time
We drank Merlot, stayed up all night
I poured it down the sink and I, I
I tried going sober but anyone who knows ya
Knows you have a way of sticking 'round so I had to wash you down
I used to be vodka soda
Jack and cola
Umbrella drink with rum
I used to say "surprise me"
Now you won't find me
With tequila in my cup
Cause I can't trust who I become
When a drop of liquor hits my tongue
The way I did back when you were here
So now I stick with beer
Oh I stick with beer
I tried drinking wine but it reminds me of the time
We drank Merlot, stayed up all night
I poured it down the sink and I, I
I tried going sober but anyone who knows ya
Knows you have a way of sticking 'round so I had to wash you down
