Lyrics
In a lonesome valley, where the cold winds moan,
Stands a boy with a sling, and a giant of stone
They call him a fool, say he's wastin' his time,
But his heart's beatin' steady like a church bell's chime
Dirt on his hands, got a rock and a prayer,
Ain't no king's shadow gonna keep him scared
They raise their walls, they block out the sky,
Say, Lay down, son, or you're bound to die
But he stands tall, he don't sway,
He's got a fire that won't fade away
Goliath's comin' down tonight,
That giant's fallin' in the fire's light
With a soul full of freedom and a fighter's roar,
Sling that stone, let it soar, let it soar!
Goliath's comin' down tonight,
The underdogs rise with newfound might
No iron chains can bind what's meant to be free,
Goliath's fallin' for you and me!
They got their armor, they got their thunder and might,
Castles of iron tryin' to steal the light
But this ol' boy's got a spark in his chest,
Dreams of a home where the weary find rest
He's duckin' their spears, he's holdin' the line,
Singin' hymns of the free 'neath the old olive vine
They raise their walls, they block out the sky,
Say, Lay down, son, or you're bound to die
But he stands tall, he don't sway,
He's got a fire that won't fade away
Goliath's comin' down tonight,
That giant's fallin' in the fire's light
With a soul full of freedom and a fighter's roar,
Sling that stone, let it soar, let it soar!
Goliath's comin' down tonight,
The underdogs rise with newfound might
No iron chains can bind what's meant to be free,
Goliath's fallin' for you and me!
Every cut, every scar, every hurt that he's known,
Every prayer in the dark for a place to call home
The people are singin', their voices won't end,
That damn giant's breakin'-we're risin' again!
Goliath's comin' down tonight,
That giant's fallin' in the fire's light
With a soul full of freedom and a fighter's roar,
Sling that stone, let it soar, let it soar!
Goliath's comin' down tonight,
The underdogs rise with newfound might
No iron chains can bind what's meant to be free,
Goliath's fallin' for you and me!
Out in the valley, where the dust settles low,
A boy with a sling brought that giant down slow
He climbed up the ridge, looked past the barbed wire,
Listened to echoes of screams and gunfire
Their empire's crumbling, oh can't you see?
From the river to the sea, our people will live free
Doesn't matter if they come with spears or drones,
Goliath's fallin', and we're not alone
Yeah, Goliath's fallin' on this blood-stained stone
