Away

The lyrics move from a remembered world that feels bright, hopeful, and full of possibility to a present that seems empty and worn. The speaker looks back on dreams and a sense of wonder, then urges the listener to value the present before that inner hope disappears. The repeated refrain offers a feeling of escape: even when life feels difficult, a dream can make another place seem reachable.

Several images show this change. Blooming gardens suggest energy and promise, while deserted gardens make the world feel neglected or emotionally barren. The “barefoot boy” weeping in the night may represent a vulnerable, innocent part of the speaker, left alone when wishes have become hollow. “A home away from care” sounds less like a specific destination than an imagined refuge from worry.

The song’s meaning remains open. “Away” could suggest travel, escape into dreams, or simply the passage of time and longing for a safer state of mind. The lines about cherishing the moment seem to resist giving up, even as the speaker admits that time carries them onward. So the song holds both sadness for what has faded and a quiet encouragement to keep imagining and living.
