I'm goin' back to Wentzville
Have myself a really good time
Back to Wentzville
Leave these Memphis blues behind
Do you remember Marie?
Or sweet Betty Jean?
They used to call me long distance from New Orleans
I'd ride'em around in my Cadillac car
They were sweet rock 'n' rollers, I was their star
Cruisin Highway Z in my coupe de ville
Until the wee wee hours outside of Wentzville
Back to Wentzville, I'll take any airline
Back to Wentzville, leave these Memphis blues behind
Every Saturday night I had a little rendez-vous
Beautiful Delilah I'm a talkin' bout you
You pulled the strings to my driftin' heart
Together we always will be from the start
She's only 16 but oh what a thrill
I can hardly wait to get back to Wentzville
Back to Wentzville, long distance get me there on time
Back to Wentzville, leave these Memphis blues behind
Alright
Well the good times in St. Louie
I can still recall
Yeah, the show-me state
Sure is great
But one of those girls is Baby Doll
Woo, back to Wentzville, I'll take any airline
Back to Wentzville, leave these Memphis blues behind
I took the downbound train for ole Mexico
I ran into Lawanda at a rock n roll show
We danced right around til our feet got sore
Split for Californey in my Mustang Ford
She's in the promised land where she waits for me still
Cause the law wouldn't let me bring her back to Wentzville
Back to Wentzville long distance get me there on time
Back to Wentzville, leave these Memphis blues behind
Back to Wentzville long distance get me there on time
Back to Wentzville, leave these Memphis blues behind
