Yeah, it was supposed to be the biggest show
Man, yeah the biggest night of our lives
Leather, lace, and silver studded microphones
Underneath those big city stage spotlights
We traveled from Bangor to Boston to Austin
All the way back up to lower Broadway
We know every knick knack shack and truck stop
West of the Mississippi and east of LA
But, it was no good
Yeah, it was no good
Misunderstood's a look I couldn't seem to shake
And everybody knows, he's like the pouring rain
(Yeah, pouring rain)
On a sunny day
(Sunny day)
That small town rambling dreamer's never gonna change his wild ways
He's like a hurricane (yeah, hurricane)
Or a midnight train
(Or a midnight train)
But one thing I ain't never gonna let 'em do
Is break this golden heart of mine
I'm gonna love like it's the last day of my life
ย
Yeah
I dropped the ball back in high school
With only two weeks left to graduate
Felt my time was numbered
So I hit the road, running opposite of Ashbury and Haight
Yeah, seventeen, living a dream
Even then at the time in my own mind, yeah
Looking back, jack, I was broke as a joke
But I was living on top of a gold mine
But, it was no good
Yeah, she was so good
Cause misunderstood's a look I couldn't seem to shake
And everybody knows, he's like the pouring rain
(Pouring rain)
On a sunny day
(Sunny day)
That small town rambling dreamer's never gonna change his wild ways
He's like a hurricane
(Hurricane)
Or a midnight train
(Midnight train)
But one thing I ain't never gonna let 'em do
Is break this golden heart of mine
I'm gonna love like it's the last day of my life
Yeah, come on
One thing's for certain
Baby, when you're on your front porch looking up at the stars
Honey, can you see my face?
Right there between Venus and Mars
I swear the world is ours, honey, yeah
One thing's for certain
Chasing Hollywood will make your heart feel like it's set in stone
Leave you as broke as joke
With nowhere to run to, nowhere to hide, and not a damn thing to show
And nowadays, man I gotta tell you
It just feels like a bunch of hype
Manufactured stacks of plastic
Wrapped up in phrases like we own the night
Oh, and it's no good
Yeah, it's no good
But I gotta tell ya
Misunderstood is feeling pretty damn good these days
And everybody knows, I'm like the pouring rain
(Pouring rain)
On a sunny day
(Sunny day)
I've kicked around everywhere from West Hollywood
To Fulham and Boadway
Was like a hurricane
(Hurricane)
So that's what they say
(What they say)
But one thing I ain't never gonna let 'em do
Is break this golden heart of mine
No, no
I gotta love like it's the last day of my life
I'm gonna love like it's the last day of my life
I'm gonna love like it's the last day of my life
ย
You got to love like it's the last day of your life
Come on and love like it's the last day of your life
I'm gonna love like it's the last day of my life
