Lyrics meaning
The singer feels lucky and proud to be with someone he loves, but his happiness is mixed with anxiety. When they are out together, he imagines that other people may want his partner. He knows there is no clear reason to doubt the relationship, yet he cannot stop worrying. The repeated word โsuspicionsโ captures this conflict between trust and fear.
The idea that someone might โstealโ his partner is not meant literally: it expresses his fear of losing them to someone else. โTurn every head in the roomโ means that the partner attracts everyoneโs attention. These images show that the singer sees his partner as very attractive, and that admiration itself becomes a source of insecurity.
The lyrics do not suggest that the partner has been unfaithful; in fact, the singer says he knows they love him and describes feeling satisfied when they are alone. His jealousy seems to come from his own fear rather than from evidence. When he says he โhate[s]โ himself for his thoughts, he recognizes that his suspicions are unfair or unreasonable, even though they still feel difficult to control.
