I always wanted a place with a big back yard
Where the grass is green and the summers are long
Rhubarb growing right behind the garage
I was always dreaming of the big back yard
All I ever wanted was a big back yard
Where me and my brothers could play our guitars
Gaze in wonder at the moon and stars
And sing all night in the big back yard
ย
I always wanted a place with a big back yard
With a porch for your mother and a deck of cards
Eighteen chickens and a Saint Bernard
And a cat named Rudy in the big back yard
In the big back yard, yeah
The big back yard, oh yeah
ย
I always wanted a place with a big back yard
With a neighbor who waves while I'm mowing the lawn
A big oak tree with a swing for my son
And my daughtะตr in the big back yard
I always wanted a place with a big back yard
Whะตre we tell a ghost story by a marshmallow fire
A vegetable garden and a garden gnome
But now all I really want is a home
All I really want is a home
ย
I always wanted a place with a big back yard
With a path to the river not very far
A tub that bubbles and a cue that barbs
And buffalo grazing in the big back yard
In the big back yard, yeah
The big back yard, oh yeah
ย
I always wanted a place with a big back yard
I've been living so long with this hole in my heart
I became a drifter and began to roam
Now all I really want is a home
All I really want is a home
ย
I always wanted a place with a big back yard
I always wanted a place with a big back yard
A big back yard
