Devils Haircut

The speaker feels that something is going wrong inside their mind. Their thoughts seem to be fading, and they see danger or failure everywhere. The lyrics create a tense, unstable mood, with strange and harsh scenes piling up. The repeated phrase about a “devil’s haircut” suggests that this troubling feeling keeps returning and has become part of the speaker’s thoughts.

Several images make the world seem damaged and threatening. A “rotten oasis” is an apparent place of relief that has become unhealthy or useless. “Pistols” aimed at a poor person’s pockets suggests robbery and exploitation. The phrase “briefcase blues” may connect ordinary work or business life with sadness, while “bleeding noses” gives the journey into town a grim, chaotic quality. These images are deliberately unusual rather than parts of one clear story.

The “devil’s haircut” is not explained directly. It could suggest a disturbing idea, a corrupted state of mind, or simply an absurd image that captures the song’s wild, uneasy energy. The lyrics mix recognizable problems—poverty, violence, and mental confusion—with surreal details, so listeners may understand the mood more clearly than any literal plot. The speaker’s repeated line can sound both alarming and almost like a chant, making the unease feel difficult to escape.
