Had to take some time to get my mind right
But now I'm doing just fine
I don't know who I'm trying to convince most
Already told myself today at least a couple of times
But I think it's safe to say I'm in a better place
At least I'm moving at a better pace
Placing my focus on what matters most now
But I remember when I never really knew how
Cause when I used to feel myself slipping
I was gripping at the surface
A fight that never really felt worth it
Trying to tell myself it wasn't that serious
Never sought advice cause I was too afraid of hearing it
Clearly never did me any good
Misunderstood by peers and never feeling like I could
Confide about my fear of facing up to this
Didn't wanna admit I might be stuck with this forever
But ever since I did, I'm doing better cause
These storms don't hit me like they used to
This is nothing that I ain't already been through
I was lost, had to find myself in the clouds
I used to always wanna hide but now I ride it out
I used to ignore the forecast
Hoping that it might pass
So when it hit me, it was too fast
For me to have the time to react
But I'm more in control lately
And I'm still the same me
With the same struggles, same low self-esteem
But my views now ain't what they used to be
Like I went from standard definition up to HD
And the way I see it now, I'm only getting better with time
Cause I've come a long way from those nights lay awake
Trying to figure out
How to break out of my mentality
Now I feel I've finally found clarity
Cause I can see the positive side
Leaving behind old ways
Not just trying to survive
I feel alive these days
And though I struggle sometimes
And some things never change
These storms no longer seem to phase me
These storms don't hit me like they used to
This is nothing that I ain't already been through
I was lost, had to find myself in the clouds
I used to always wanna hide but now I ride it out
