There was a wicked messenger, from Eli, he did come
He had a mind that multiplied the smallest matter
When questioned, who did sin for him?
He answered with his thumb
For his tongue yet could not speak but only flatter
Wicked messenger
Wicked messenger
His tongue yet could not speak but only flatter
He stayed behind the assembly hall
It was there he made his bed
Oftentimes he could be seen returning
And then one day he just appeared with a note in his hand
That read
That the soles of my feet, you know, are burning
Wicked messenger
Oh, wicked messenger
He said the soles of my feet, ooh, are burning
Oh, the leaves begin to fall, the leaves begin to fall
The people that confronted him were many
And he was told with these few words that opened up his heart
If you cannot bring good news, then don't bring any
Wicked messenger
Oh, wicked messenger, hey
If you cannot bring good news then don't bring any
Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh
Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh
Wicked old messenger
Oh, wicked messenger, yeah
If you cannot bring good news then don't bring it any
