You were there for me through it all
When everyone around said that I would fall
You were my friend
And You believed in me
ย
Through the good times and the bad
At times I felt that You were all I had
You were my friend
And You believed in me
ย
So You went the extra mile
To prove Your love was true
You held out Your hands
As they drove the nails in You
When You could've walked away
And turned Your back to all my sins
But for me, You gave Your life
You chose to be my friend
ย
Like a child (like a child) so full of fear
You stood by my side and You held me near
You were my friend (You were my friend)
And You believed (oh, You believe) in me
ย
When my faith grew weak
And strength seemed gone
You took me by the hand and led me on
Oh, You were my friend
You believed in me
Oh yes, You did
So You went the extra mile
To prove Your love was true
You held out Your hands
As they drove the nails in You
When You could've walked away (walked away)
And turned Your back to all my sins
For me, You gave Your life, Lord
You chose to be my friend
ย
When You could've walked away (oh, could've walked away)
And turned Your back to all my sins
But for me, You gave your life, Jesus
You chose to be my friend
For me, You gave Your life (ooh, You gave Your life)
You chose to be my friend
