In the midst of darkness
That spreads over the earth
The kingdom of heaven
Must be the ones to light the way
And fill their lamps with oil
So they will always shine
Though unlike the wise
Some won't be prepared to endure
Christ is here!
When the Midnight Cry rings out
And you wake from deepest slumber
Will your lamps be filled with doubt
Or with oil the fools can't plunder?
The flame must steadily burn
Awaiting Christ's arrival
And the wise will enter His banquet upon the return
But fools will be left
Due to their denial
So keep watch for no one knows the day or hour
Of the Midnight Cry
His coming is long expected
Yet His people wait in vain
Their spirits grow restless
And they fall asleep by their flames
But the wise will be ready
To relight their lamps
The foolish left empty
Since they're not equipped to endure
Christ is here!
When the Midnight Cry rings out
And you wake from deepest slumber
Will your lamps be filled with doubt
Or with oil the fools can't plunder?
The flame must steadily burn
Awaiting Christ's arrival
And the wise will enter His banquet upon the return
But fools will be left
Due to their denial
So keep watch for no one knows the day or hour
Of the Midnight Cry
When fools get to the door and time ends
They will cry out to the Lord
But He will say He never knew them
But please don't say the Lord
They beg before His throne room
He will turn away rejecting all their pleading
So when He arrives
You must be waiting
There's no time to spare
Be like the wise
Illuminating
Don't be caught unaware
When the Midnight Cry rings out
And you wake from deepest slumber
Will your lamps be filled with doubt
Or with oil the fools can't plunder?
The flame must steadily burn
Awaiting Christ's arrival
And the wise will enter His banquet upon the return
But fools will be left
Due to their denial
So keep watch for no one knows the day or hour
Of the Midnight Cry
