Lyrics meaning

The speaker mocks someone she is attracted to, presenting him as fashionable, sensitive, health-conscious, and more interested in alternative culture than in her. Beneath the teasing, she sounds frustrated and jealous: she admits she cannot stop thinking about him and resents that he seems to prefer other things. The repeated refrain turns that irritation into a catchy, exaggerated complaint.

Details such as the designer scarf, Mozart, Hemingway, and sunscreen create a caricature of someone carefully performing a distinctive, sophisticated identity. The references to MySpace and makeup suggest that he appears more absorbed in his own image and online life than in the speaker. โ€œPull โ€™em downโ€ hints at a sexual encounter or the speakerโ€™s expectation of one, but the following phrase undercuts that expectation with a crude insult.

The refrain uses โ€œgayโ€ as a taunt while also saying the man is not attracted to boys. That contradiction makes the label seem less like a clear description and more like an angry, careless way to call him different or uninterested in the speaker. The lyrics are intentionally provocative and may be heard as satire of mockery and jealousy, but they also use language that can hurt LGBTQ people. The speakerโ€™s feelings are clear; the targetโ€™s identity and motives are not.
