A 1980 Dodge van was my very first car
I drove her around just everywhere
Had three hundred thousand hard miles on that motor
Been haulin' my family 'round long as I remember
Now that van was mine
Gonna turn her around one more time
That beautiful big brown 1980 Dodge van
She took us to D.C., Six Flags and Worlds of Fun
Daddy asleep at the wheel, mama ridin' shotgun
I'd steer while my daddy slept
He'd put it in cruise, take a little nap
How'd we stay alive in that 1980 Dodge van

The 1980 Dodge van, she was a maxi-van
Had to haul five kids and a country band
Went all around to the Eagles, Elks and Moose
When I got a hold of her, I really turned hะตr loose
Took out all them seats
Had a homะต on wheels, oh, it was real sweet
I was livin' large in that 1980 Dodge van
I'd hobo 'round with my home parked on the street
Town to town, buskin' and livin' free
Yeah, my first ramblin' days were in the Dodge van
Mom and daddy gave me
I drove her proud up and down, all across the land
One day, that old van, she didn't wanna start no more
I took her to a lot of mechanics, and they broke my heart
Thousands of dollars later, she still had a broken carburetor
Wish someone could fix that 1980 Dodge van
A 1980 Dodge van was my very first car
I drove her around just everywhere
Had three hundred thousand hard miles on that motor
Been haulin' my family 'round long as I remember
Now that van was mine
Gonna turn her around one more time
That beautiful big brown 1980 Dodge van
Turn around one more time
Sure did love that 1980 Dodge van
