Way down in the country
Back in the Arkansas woods
There's a man there working for Jesus
Tryin' to do some good
He don't have no fancy building
Just a big ol' raggin' tent
And the people who come to see him
Believe he was heaven sent
Backwoods preacher man
Doin' the best he can
Backwoods preacher man
Tryin' to give the Lord a hand
When you hear him talk about Jesus
You know they're the best of friends
Just one look and you can tell
He will give the devil hell
And help you wash away your sins
Same backwoods preacher man
Doin' the best he can
Backwoods preacher man
Tryin' to give the Lord a hand
Let me tell everybody
Tremble down to his shoes
When you hear that backwoods preacher
Singin' those gospel blues
Backwoods preacher man
Doin' the best he can
Backwoods preacher man
Tryin' to give the Lord a hand
Same backwoods preacher man
Doin' the best he can
Backwoods preacher man
Tryin' to give the Lord a hand
Backwoods preacher man
Backwoods preacher man
Backwoods preacher man
