Alright, Miss Sierra
I see you brought old Red with you, honey
Oh, you know it
Well, let's get all that to the ol' Belle Meade Cockfight
We don't fight bulls and we don't race horses
And we don't give a damn what the fed enforces
But the good Lord taught us wrong from right
And it ain't no sin one little old cockfight
Pull up the truck to the pen in the yard
Big left turn on the boulevard
Round the bend, the barn backdoor
Two chalk lines on the old dirt floor
Grab old Red and spur him tight
Bill 'em up, boys, let the bidding fly
It's beak to beak and it's eye to eye
We found love at the Belle Meade cockfight
Tell ua about it, Sierra
I thought my heart knew everything
'Til I saw you across that fighting ring
One look from you is all I needed
Now we're one cockfighting family
Cut that comb and dub them wattles
Shine that gaff all inch and a quarter
Meet in the middle of the pit if you dare
Watch 'em spurs and hackles flare
Kiss my bird and let her fly
Swing your cocks on up to the sky
Handlers watch don't let 'em die
We found love at the Belle Meade cockfight
They are really fightin' now
C'mon, Red, get 'em (get 'em, get 'em, get 'em, get 'em)
ย
Old Red?
ย
Well, I love my bird like I love my wife
It's in our blood this way of life
And the only fun our youngins need
Is Saturday night in the old Belle Meade
So take your corner chicken man
And may the bravest chicken win
Lift blood and beer on Saturday night
Come Sunday morning, it's chicken pie
So grab old Red and spur 'em tight
Bill 'em up boys let the bidding fly
It's beak to beak and it's eye to eye
We found love at the Belle Meade cockfight
ย
May the bravest chicken win
That is ours, of course
