Engel

The narrator describes three nights with a mysterious woman. At first he is surprised to find her awake and sensing something beyond the ordinary. Their closeness grows into a dreamy, joyful romance, but she eventually says she must leave. The repeated calls to “Angel 07” then sound less like a joke and more like the narrator’s attempt to reach someone he has lost.

The lyrics mix romance with science-fiction images. Her “soul” extending an antenna and receiving a signal makes her seem like a visitor communicating with another world. “The headquarters of the stars” and the “fourth dimension” turn the lovers’ nights into a journey beyond everyday life. Calling her a “heavenly spy” is a playful way to describe the narrator’s suspicion that she is not quite human.

It is unclear whether the woman is meant to be a literal alien or angel, or whether these images express how extraordinary and mysterious she feels to him. The song keeps both possibilities open. Its tone shifts from wonder and flirtation toward sadness, while the repeated code-like name preserves a light, fantastical quality even after she is gone.
