Object of My Desire

The lyrics describe an intense attraction that begins with a glance and quickly becomes a fantasy of closeness. The speaker feels nervous and physically excited, then imagines sharing a night with the person. The mood is passionate, but it shifts toward uncertainty: when the imagined encounter seems real, the speaker becomes scared and wonders whether it is too much to hope for.

“Fire” and “ignite my fire” represent desire and emotional excitement, not a literal flame. “Fireworks explode” similarly suggests a sudden, powerful rush of feeling. The phrase “object of my desire” means the person is the focus of the speaker’s longing; it can sound romantic, though it also presents that person mainly through what the speaker wants. “I pinch myself” is an expression used when someone wants to check whether an amazing experience is real.

The lyrics leave open whether the closeness is happening in real life or in a fantasy. The speaker describes the other person lying beside them, but immediately questions whether this is “too much to ask even for a fantasy.” This uncertainty makes the song more than a straightforward celebration of confidence: the desire is strong, yet it is mixed with anxiety and disbelief.
