Voyage to Atlantis

The speaker is unsure whether he can leave his beloved, even while imagining a journey with her. His questions suggest both longing and fear of separation. As the lyrics develop, the journey becomes a shared hope: they will set sail together, leave past relationships behind, and try once more to make their love last.

“Sailing” suggests a fresh start and movement toward an unknown future. The “misty lady” may be the beloved, described as mysterious, while “set my spirit free” implies that being with her brings emotional release. “Atlantis,” a legendary place beneath the sea, stands for a distant paradise or ideal home; it may also represent the relationship the speaker hopes to return to.

There is a gentle tension between leaving and coming back. The speaker talks of saying goodbye and finding new love, yet repeatedly promises to return, so the lyrics do not make clear exactly who or what is being left behind. “Atlantis is back to you” is also open to interpretation: it could mean the dream of paradise belongs to the couple again, or that the speaker is returning to someone associated with that dream.
