Oh, yes
It's Christmas in the ghetto
Christmas in the ghetto
It's Christmas in the ghetto
Merry Christmas to the people in the ghetto (yes)
Your family's the only Santa Claus you'll ever know
It ain't no chimneys or stockings in the projects
And if you get a gift, it came outta pocket
So be thankful even if you get a small amount
It ain't the gift, it's the thought that really counts
You know it's true that money can't buy you happiness
So count your blessings as you listen to me rapping this
And watch your kids as they open up their presents
To see they faces lighten up like Heaven
I hope you got all the gifts that you asked for
Just give me eggnog, Hennessy and some indo
On to the hood, first stop is granny's house
To get that bomb Christmas dinner, good looking out
And after that, roam the hood 'til I'm dead broke
Say Merry Christmas everybody as I drink and smoke
We don't have much, if I could say so
But once again, it's Christmas in the ghetto
The kids are having fun, the best way they know how
But Christmas in the ghetto
Ain't much to talk about
It's Christmas in the ghetto
Wasn't no toys for tots, not for the kids in Watts
We had to play in the streets in front of the dope spots
When Christmas in the ghetto was a major event
That was the only time we seen where mama money was spent
And those were the days a nigga kinda felt shame
The only thing we afforded was a monopoly game
We learned to make the best out of whatever we had
Wasn't no time to bitch and cry, times was already bad
They started to get worse as a nigga grew up
And when I think about those days, shit was fucked up
See, I won't get off into a nigga's life story
But Christmas in the ghetto wasn't no peaches and glory
Now I provide for my daughter just to see her smile
It makes me feel good, 'cause that's my child
And there's still a gang of kids less fortunate than me
'Cause Christmas in the ghetto was a burning tree
We don't have much, if I could say so
But once again, it's Christmas in the ghetto
The kids are having fun, the best way they know how
But Christmas in the ghetto
Ain't much to talk about
It's Christmas in the ghetto
December 25th, woke up with a fifth
Taking pictures of my kids as they crack and open their gifts
On the day they give and hope to receive
Jehovah Witness at my door, knowin' they don't believe
We already know that Santa ain't bringing us nothing
That mommy and daddy doing all the stocking stuffing
The cookies and all the decorations
Preparin' for this Christmas celebration
Ain't nothing wrong with seeing a ghetto child smile
Opening presents, running 'round acting wild
Thinking back when that was me
Mama worked hard and looked out for the family
We don't have much, if I could say so
Once again, it's Christmas in the ghetto
The kids are having fun, the best way they know how
But Christmas in the ghetto
Ain't much to talk about, it's Christmas in the ghetto
