Never been perfect but I always been honest
Back when it was only my mama that left comments
We was making art you trying to produce content
Never been content with trading labor for commas
I know a lot of ex players turn to commentators
Common haters the lowest common denominator
I got a lot of rap homies need a lot of favors
You get to passing up your peers and shit get complicated
A lot of times you let it slide cause you got complacent
A lot of times I leveled up cause I was concentrated
I've had a lot of conversations about greatness
And in every single one there's a part about patience
But I'm finally starting to see more
I been wearing shoes less and thinking free more
I been getting to the work skipping detours
Studying the tapes of every show after each tour
That's just the way that I am
Couldn't do it half ass if you paid me in cash
And I'm scared too homie I ain't telling you lies
I just feel alive when I'm taking that chance
Not to mention the mistakes in the past
All the times that life probably could've killed me but it gave me a chance
All the times that hip hop helped make me a man
I owe it all back I don't need a label advance
Cause no one ever told me it'd be easy
But you're the only one who sees the real me
Everything I own it don't complete me
No, no, no, no
I ain't running from the truth no more
I don't wanna drink liquor til I puke no more
I don't wanna love power, hate women, need money
I don't wanna take drugs just so I can feel something
I don't wanna fuck bitches, I don't wanna take pics
I don't wanna get rich and have it all mean nothing
I don't know if bygones is bygones
Feel it in my chest and it squeeze like a python
Laying on the floor in the dark with the lights off
And tryna retrace everywhere that my mind gone
It's hard to explain
We used to pray for water and rain
Nowadays it's hard liquor just to harbor the pain
It's no wonder that we all scared of dying in vain
And everybody gotta wonder if they kind of insane
It ain't no way that I'ma wipe my tears now
I'm here and I ain't shying away
That's just the way that I am
Couldn't do it half ass if you paid me in cash
And I'm scared too homie I ain't telling you lies
I just feel alive when I'm taking that chance
Not to mention the mistakes in the past
All the times that life probably could've killed me but it gave me a chance
All the times that hip hop helped make me a man
I owe it all back I don't need a label advance
Cause no one ever told me it'd be easy
But you're the only one who sees the real me
Everything I own it don't complete me
No, no, no, no
Cause no one ever told me it'd be easy
But you're the only one who sees the real me
Everything I own it don't complete me
No, no, no, no
