'Twas on a bright May morning
I ran down through the grass
Of the pleasant meadow Greenfield
To meet a bonny lass
To meet a bonny lassie, to bear her company
For she's low down, she's in the broom
She's waiting there for me
She's low down, she's in the broom
She's waiting there for me
ย
I looked o'er my left shoulder
To see what I could spy
And I did spy my true love
Beneath the morning sky
Her dress of white lace dangling
Her black hair curling free
For she's low down, she's in the broom
She's waiting there for me
She's low down, she's in the broom
She's waiting there for me
ย
I took hold of her lily-white hand
And breathless came her voice
Saying, "Now we're bound together, love
And each has made their choice
Mine to bear your children
Yours to constant be"
She's low down, she's in the broom
She's waiting there for me
She's low down, she's in the broom
She's waiting there for me
ย
She's low down, she's in the broom
She's waiting there for me
She's low down, she's in the broom
She's waiting there for me
She's low down, she's in the broom
She's waiting there for me
She's low down, she's in the broom
She's waiting there for me
ย
(Low down, she's in the broom
She's waiting there for me)
