Stone Dead Forever

The song addresses someone whose life seems to have become empty or morally frozen. The speaker sounds accusatory, pointing to guilt and greed, while asking what happened to the person’s life. The mood is harsh and mocking rather than sorrowful. As the lyrics progress, the target appears to be someone who has gained money and status, but these achievements do not seem to have brought genuine fulfillment.

“Your face turned to stone” suggests that the person has become cold, rigid, or emotionally unresponsive. “Pearly Gates” usually refers to the entrance to heaven, but here the line about catching your fingers there and being told to leave a number makes the image comic and dismissive: even a hoped-for escape or welcome is denied. The “silver spoon” points to privilege, while “financial wizard” and “top tycoon” describe someone focused on wealth and success.

The repeated phrase “stone dead forever” may mean literal death, but the lyrics also support a figurative reading: the person is spiritually or emotionally dead while still alive. The song does not explain exactly what caused this change. It may be criticizing greed and a life built around status, or simply taunting someone who has lost their vitality. The angry tone leaves room for both readings.
