Tell you all about the way I grew up
Y'all this a true story
My entire life, the mailbox in front of our house had the letters "M A L E" painted on it
Give a couple of you a second or two on that one
M A L E and by the time I was in the eleventh grade, I realized, haha, that ain't right
That "M" is supposed to be capitalized, isn't it?
That is a true story
My uncle did that when I was in the third grade
He did it as a joke, and nobody got it
Rednecks, and didn't even know it
We were talking not long ago about, back to school clothing
I was tellin' someone, I said "What my mother used to, she used to go down to the Arrow shirt factory"
And my mother would by the defective shirts, they called 'em "factory seconds", and that was our school clothes for the year
I didn't realize until I got in college, and bought my own shirt that I wasn't crippled
I thought I had one arm that much longer than the other one!
I'm healed!
After the defective shirts, then she would take us to K-Mart and would buy us tennis shoes that were tied together with a little string
And my mother would make us try 'em on
"How they feel?"
"Pretty good!"
"Can you run in 'em?"
And whoo-wee, I'd rather wear the tennis shoes and the defective shirts then hand-me-downs
Oh, I hated hand-me-downs
I still remember walking to school going, "Boy, I wish my sister had taken better care of this dress"
With my slip showin'
